The Grayed Out Box:
The Coercion Clause

During forgiveness, the amount to apply for on lender portal was given in a grayed out box; a pre-populated amount which had no bearing on what we spent on payroll and covered expenses.

We were not able to change the amount in the grayed out box. 

After you sign for the amount you do not agree to under duress, you are given the possibility of an appeal through the SBA.

The law incentivises lenders to force borrowers to sign under duress, in order to report high numbers of successes of the program.
